After years of speculation, Rockstar Games has finally confirmed the GTA 6 price, with players paying $79.99 for the Standard Edition when Grand Theft Auto VI launches this November.

The $79.99 price officially pushes one of gaming’s biggest AAA releases beyond the long-standing $70 price point. Rockstar has also confirmed a $99.99 Ultimate Edition, with pre-orders beginning June 25 at midnight local time ahead of the game’s November 19, 2026 release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

GTA 6 Price Reaches $99.99 With Ultimate Edition

The GTA 6 price starts at $79.99 for the Standard Edition, while Rockstar has also unveiled the Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition for $99.99.

According to Rockstar, the premium edition includes an exclusive collection of vehicles, weapons, apparel, and additional content tied directly to the stories of protagonists Jason and Lucia.

Players who pre-order either edition — or purchase the game before November 20 — will receive the Vintage Vice City Pack, a nostalgic bonus inspired by the neon-soaked legacy of GTA: Vice City. Digital buyers will also receive one free month of GTA+.

GTA 6 Physical Copies Will Not Include a Disc

Perhaps the biggest surprise isn’t the price — it’s the packaging.

Rockstar confirmed that physical copies of GTA 6 will not include a Blu-ray disc. Instead, boxed editions will contain a download code that allows players to redeem and download the full game digitally. Physical copies will begin shipping on November 12, one week ahead of launch, specifically to allow players to preload the game before release day.

The move marks one of the highest-profile examples yet of the industry’s gradual transition away from physical media.

For collectors, it means owning the box — but not necessarily the game disc.

GTA 6 Preloading Begins One Week Before Launch

Players who pre-order GTA 6 digitally will be able to start downloading the game beginning November 12, a full week before launch. Rockstar is clearly preparing for unprecedented demand as millions of players attempt to access the game simultaneously on November 19.

The strategy could prove essential given the increasingly fragile state of digital storefront infrastructure during major launches.

Industry observers still remember the widespread outages caused by massive releases in recent years, and many expect GTA 6 to become one of the largest entertainment launches in history..

Could the GTA 6 Price Change AAA Game Pricing?

The GTA 6 price could have consequences far beyond Rockstar’s own game.

For years, analysts have speculated that Grand Theft Auto 6 would become the title that finally pushes AAA game prices beyond $70. Development costs for blockbuster games have skyrocketed, with budgets frequently reaching hundreds of millions of dollars, putting increasing pressure on publishers to raise prices.

While Nintendo and several other publishers have already experimented with $80 releases, GTA 6 may be the title that normalizes the price point across the entire industry.

Given that Grand Theft Auto V has sold more than 230 million copies worldwide, Rockstar is arguably the only publisher capable of testing the market on this scale.

Whether players embrace the new pricing model remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: when GTA 6 launches this November, the entire gaming industry will be watching.

ce Means for Players

The GTA 6 price represents more than a $10 increase over the previous standard for major AAA releases. With the Standard Edition at $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition reaching $99.99, Rockstar is testing how much players are willing to pay for one of the most anticipated games ever made.

The absence of a physical disc and the emphasis on digital preloading also show how quickly the traditional game-buying model is changing.

Whether GTA 6 becomes the exception or the beginning of a new $80 era for AAA games remains to be seen. But with Rockstar testing the market at this scale, publishers across the industry will be watching the results very closely.
